Level 3: Emergency First aid at Work +F (EFAW+F)

Who is this for?
The Emergency First aid at work +F qualification is aimed at those undertaking the role of an emergency First Aider on Forestry Commission land, where a “+F” is required. The Qualification naturally meets the requirements of the Health and Safety (first aid) Regulations 1981 (1982 NI)
This qualification is typically delivered over 1 day. It is for those working on Forestry Commission land who require an Emergency First Aid a Work
qualification with an added forestry context.
The qualification includes practical elements undertaken in an outdoors environment.
Candidates need to be capable of performing first aid skills in an outdoor environment.
Pre-Requisites:
This qualification is aimed at those over 16 who are able to undertake the responsibilities associated with being an emergency first aider.
Those under 16 may undertake the qualification, however they should not be relied upon by employers to be a responsible first aider.
Due to the language of the assessment, it is recommended that learners have sufficient command of the English language in order to understand the assessment and to undertake the recommended assessment methods.
Attendees will be required to demonstrate First Aid procedures as they would in a real work environment. This includes providing CPR to a casualty who is on the floor, therefore be physically capable of doing so.

Course content
The Emergency First aid at Work +F qualification has been developed to meet the first aid training requirements outlined by the Health & Safety (H.S.E) and the Forestry Commission.
The course includes:
- What is first aid?
- First aid in the a forestry setting
- Protecting a casualty in an outdoor
environment - Primary survey
- Unconscious casualty management
- Resuscitation
- Choking
- Shock
- Wounds and Bleeding
- Management of catastrophic bleeding
- Minor burns
- Seizures
- Lyme disease
- Crush injuries
Additional topics can be delivered on request although delivery time may need to be extended.
